Taylorsville is located just 40 minutes from Louisville, Kentucky, and is the county seat of Spencer County, while Simpsonville is located 23 miles east of Louisville in Shelby County, and Fisherville is a neighborhood of Louisville. All three areas offer residents ample access to city life with the quiet of a small town.

Taylorsville was founded on land owned by the father of US President Zachary Taylor, Richard Taylor, in 1799. A famous Confederate raider was killed by Union troops near the town in 1865. Simpsonville was first planned by Isaac Watkins in 1816 and became a stagecoach town by 1825. Fisherville was originally named Curreys, but it was renamed in 1847 in remembrance of a local mill owner.

Homes in Taylorsville average about $286,500, and architectural styles include a farmhouse, folk Victorian, and Craftsman. Simpsonville offers homes at a higher average of $348,000, and Fisherville comes in at about the same. The homes in these areas are similar.
